چکیده

When conceptualizing work performance as requiring self-control, scholars often employ a resource-depletion perspective. However, this perspective neglects the role of self-control motivation and self-regulation strategies. In diary study, we examine (viz. to control impulses) depletion at beginning midday predictors afternoon task performance. Additionally, investigate morning aversive tasks an antecedent increased decreased motivation. Further, strategies (organizing, meaning-related strategies, self-reward) for maintaining improving when depleted or low in Data from 2-week study with three daily measurements (N = 135 employees; n 991 days) were analyzed. Multilevel path modeling showed that predicted We found self-reward counteracts negative relationship between indirect effect on via noon buffered by self-reward. Organizing meaning positively related Findings suggest is important performance, addition depletion. Moreover, results highlight are beneficial

Time pressure undermines performance more under avoidance than approach motivation.

Four experiments were designed to test the hypothesis that performance is particularly undermined by time pressure when people are avoidance motivated. The results supported this hypothesis across three different types of tasks, including those well suited and those ill suited to the type of information processing evoked by avoidance motivation. We did not find evidence that stress-related emot...

the effects of time planning and task complexity on accuracy of narrative task performance

The Impact of Task Complexity, Task Motivation, Decision Support System (DSS) Motivation, and DSS Use on Performance

This study provides insight into the inconsistent findings on the impact of task complexity on performance by identifying the mediating role of task motivation in the effect of task complexity on DSS motivation and the interactive impact of DSS motivation and DSS use on performance. A research model is proposed to test the mediating and interaction hypotheses. One hundred participants use an ex...

Multiplex social ecological network analysis reveals how social changes affect community robustness more than resource depletion.

Network analysis provides a powerful tool to analyze complex influences of social and ecological structures on community and household dynamics. Most network studies of social-ecological systems use simple, undirected, unweighted networks. We analyze multiplex, directed, and weighted networks of subsistence food flows collected in three small indigenous communities in Arctic Alaska potentially ...
